Journeys often start with an end. This is my farewell to London.

Thursday 13th March 2025
One more box.
Where’s the tape?
Ding ding ding ding ding
Our nosey fluffy friend.
All packed and smelly of bleach
Keys on the counter. Ready to leap.
Leaving leafy Ealing
Just down the Common stop.
A rail track of memories, laughs, people met and left.
South Kensington with its museums,
That exhibition for our date.
A friend’s play revives in Baron’s Court.
So many trips to Hammersmith
We pubbed, you worked.
My longtime friend stayed in Earl’s Court…
There we are running up and down Victoria stairs!
Pink Pelicans in St. James’s Park
Such royal picnics with a view of London Eye.
Here’s Westminster
Where Big Ben rises tall
Kissed by the last rays
Of this unlikely sunny day.
I cross Westminster Bridge,
Absorb the sight.
Of tourists, of roasted peanuts,
Of speedy Londoners,
A protest in the distance.
Waterloo,
I promise, I’ll see you soon.
